The Cairos

Dream of Reason – Universal Music Australia (Out May 9th)

Following the EP ‘Colours Like Features’ and winning Triple J’s Unearthed award, The Cairos are back with their new studio album ‘Dream of Reason’. Produced by Nick Didia who has worked with heavyweights such as Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam and Powderfinger to name a few, the Brisbane outfit combine powerful lyrics, easy listening and moments of instrumental bliss to create a 37-minute trip through the minds of four talented artists.

cairosThe title track, Desire, can be heard on Triple J and has a mixture of Temper Trap’s style with old school simplicity and a resonating chorus. Whether it’s the melodic track Insane with lyrics contemplating the world’s insanity or Fear of Madness warning ‘Once you’ve seen what I have, the light it leaves your day,’ the diverse tunes rise and fall in a tempo measured for distance in the quest for the complete package. Compare this to a song such as Good Day, with the upbeat vocals of ‘Love doesn’t faze me’ and ‘Look for adventure’ and listeners begin to get an understanding of the complexity the members bring to the band and the emotional and psychological grasp on the indie genre. The calming hit Perspective brings the ten-track album to a close with a soft influence that builds towards an ending not dissimilar to the feeling of a film or book, such is the impact.

You can grab yourself a copy of ‘Dream of Reason’ from May 9th, pre-orders available through iTunes. Check out the debut single ‘Desire’ below!

With the announcement of a tour around Australia in June, this is the chance to see a rising local act that have already performed to overseas audiences and supported The Holidays as recently as March.

Now is the time for The Cairos to headline.
