Melburnians will have more time to embrace one of the city’s most popular winter experiences, with Fondue Chalet announcing an extension of its season at Federation Square until 25 July.
Inspired by the mountain resorts of the French Alps, the immersive pop-up has transformed the heart of Melbourne into a cosy alpine escape, complete with private timber chalets, traditional cheese fondue, mulled wine, outdoor fire pits and an après-ski atmosphere.
The extension follows strong attendance throughout May and June, with organisers reporting that the experience has already welcomed thousands of visitors and surpassed 400 five-star Google reviews.
“Winter no longer means staying home,” said Vincent Hernandez, founder of Fondue Chalet.
“We’re seeing people actively searching for experiences that bring them together during the colder months. Catching up with friends or family, or celebrating a special occasion, is the best way to warm up during these cold days. The additional dates will allow more guests to experience Fondue Chalet during the July school holidays, as Melbourne’s winter events calendar continues to attract locals and visitors looking for seasonal experiences.
Guests can enjoy traditional cheese fondue served in private heated chalets before gathering around outdoor fire pits with mulled wine, CASA Spirits cocktails and Koko Black hot chocolate in the venue’s alpine-inspired ski bar.
According to organisers, the experience reflects a growing appetite for immersive winter attractions that encourage people to make the most of Melbourne’s colder months rather than stay indoors.
